As I sit in my condo unit looking out at the view of Doi Suthep – it’s, of course, hidden again – I reflect upon what was expressed recently at our General Meeting, that the smoke-laden air isn’t just for 3 months but now has been extended to 5 months!
The remainder of the year is certainly better, based on the recent charting of the AQI for the pm 10 index, with a 30-40 average reading. However, work is being done to also chart the pm 2.5 index for the same time period which is the more critical index to watch.
Hence my purchase of a Vog mask, a second air purifier and soon to be AQI monitor. For some, this may appear to be overkill but I take this air quality issue seriously and have chosen to do what I feel is best for my overall health.
This link, click here, explains what happened earlier this month when the air appeared to be‘pristine’ and a welcome relief only to be short-lived for a day. This website, in general, is good for AQI trends, etc. For another helpful link, that also promotes the air quality monitors and an app for your smartphone which gives you more accurate AQI readings including the pm 2.5, click here.
For those interested, the air purifier I recently bought is manufactured by Coway (a South Korean firm) and is now available here in Chiang Mai! (no need to order online). The staff came to my condo unit and demonstrated two models and satisfactorily answered all the questions. I’m told they have recently opened a showroom located on Route 1001 in the 5th Avenue Plaza shopping area.
As always, we appreciate your questions, feedback, and comments.
If so inclined, we also look for those who have an expressed interest in volunteering for our Club.
