The next meeting is Saturday, 24th March, 10am for 10.30am at The Shangri La, Changklan Rd… Our guest speaker is ex-BBC cameraman Sid Perou who will be giving a presentation on his “Flight for Life” in aid of Cancer Research.

“This was an inspirational flight from England to Jordan in two microlight aircraft to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK. We flew long roads-under bridges, through narrow mountain gorges and had to run the gauntlet after being accused of spying in Syria. All this recorded on video. It will be illustrated by clips from the TV film and accounts of the time spent in the personal presence of King Hussain including the flight back to the UK in his personal Tristar jet airliner.”

Just a quick follow up from the last meeting.Last Saturday’s meeting was well attended, and many new visitors introduced themselves. In addition, three new sponsors were announced. Venger Wind is a Thailand-based company supplying vertical-axis wind turbine installations, C.U. Corner is a casual venue where the music is largely supplied interactively by the patrons, and Siametrics is a supplier of Internet receivers capable of bringing in 20,000 Internet radio stations from around the world. A new OGA group was also announced. The Hypnosis Practice Club meets each Tuesday at the Brix Restaurant where members can learn and practice new hypnosis techniques. Our guest speaker was Andrew Veprek from the Visa section of the US consul. A comfortable speaker who connects well with his audience, Andrew spoke about general visa and consular matters, then opened the floor for questions. Discussions of visa rules and practices are always popular, since these matters personally impact the daily life of expats in Chiang Mai, so the Q&A session was lively. Following the meeting, Andrew stayed on, giving answers to the dozen or more who gathered around to ask more detailed questions. The lucky draw included meal vouchers from several excellent restaurants and two full-admission tickets to The Elephant Camp, donated by Fashion King. Our thanks go to all the businesses who donated prizes for the Lucky Draw and, of course, to all our Sponsors.
